Distill also includes the Ask widget, an AI-powered widget that users can add directly to their Dashboards.
The Ask widget allows users to ask operational questions in plain language and receive answers grounded in their connected datasets and uploaded business documentation.
For example:
- “Which sites recorded the most incidents this quarter?”
- “Show incomplete inspections by region.”
- “What is the lockout procedure for this equipment type?”
Using AI, the widget helps teams retrieve operational insight and business knowledge directly from within their Dashboard environment, reducing the need to manually search through spreadsheets, records, or folders.
The Ask widget works within your business context using the information your organization has already captured and uploaded into Distill.
Datasets
Datasets structure and connect operational information from Appenate Forms, Docs, and your external systems.
Rather than manually exporting spreadsheets or combining fragmented records across systems, Distill centralizes operational data into reusable datasets that power dashboards, analytics, and AI-driven querying.
This creates a cleaner operational foundation for reporting, visibility, and decision-making.
Artifacts
Artifacts allow businesses to upload operational knowledge such as SOPs, manuals, procedures, policies, and supporting documentation.
Once uploaded, Distill creates an AI-searchable knowledge base grounded in your business context.
Instead of scrolling through lengthy documentation or searching disconnected folders, teams can ask practical operational questions and receive answers based on the documentation you’ve provided.

To get started, head to your Billing page within the web portal, select Distill, choose a plan that fits your operational needs, and activate your trial by clicking TRY.
