Wenatchee Release: Bring Your Own AI & More! 📢

Our latest release is named after Wenatchee, a city nestled along the Columbia River in Washington State. Known as the “Apple Capital of the World“, Wenatchee earned its reputation through generations of growers cultivating fruit across fertile river valleys. In that same spirit, this cycle brings a bumper harvest of new features and integrations. 🍎

Let’s take a look at what is rolling out.

Bring Your Own AI (BYOAI)

Appenate’s AI features are built to run on your terms. Whether you need the convenience of a managed model or strict control over your data governance and compliance posture, Bring Your Own AI (BYOAI) lets you plug in the provider that best fits your organization.

Supported providers include:

  • OpenAI (direct): Supports every AI feature in Appenate, including Voice Fill and Distill embeddings.
  • Anthropic (Claude): Works across forms, Sync, and Distill.
Note that Voice Fill is not supported because Claude lacks audio processing capabilities, and Distill embeddings are unavailable since Anthropic does not provide an embedding model.
  • Google Gemini: Supports Vertex AI and Google Agent Platform, with optional regional endpoint overrides to keep data local.
  • Azure OpenAI Service: Connects directly using your Azure OpenAI base URL and API key.

By default, Appenate routes AI tasks through Google Gemini on Vertex AI. Once you configure a BYOAI provider, all AI features across the platform automatically switch to your chosen model.

MYOB Advanced Connector

We are adding direct integration support for MYOB Advanced (and the Acumatica platform underneath it). If your team handles finances or project management in MYOB, this gives you a clean way to keep field activity and back-office records aligned without double-handling data.

The connector supports eight key entities:

  • Customers and Contacts
  • Vendors and Purchase Orders
  • Employees and Time Entries
  • Sales Orders (including line items, tax details, and payments)
  • Project Tasks

To set it up, just add your OAuth authentication on the platform’s Connections page. Once connected, you can pull live records into data sources or push completed field entries straight back into MYOB.

For example, you can pull your active MYOB customer list and open project tasks into a data source so field staff can select them from dropdowns. When someone submits a completed job form, the MYOB connector pushes their logged hours as a Time Entry and updates the matching Sales Order. Custom fields map across automatically, so no one has to spend their afternoon re-entering form data by hand.

AI Smart Filters in Listing and Mapping Screens

App filters have always been available on our listing and mapping screens, but until now, they meant tapping through dropdowns one by one. With this release, you can filter those views using plain text prompts or voice commands.

Instead of setting up manual filter combinations, you can type or say:

  • “Submissions from today”
  • “Pipe bursts reported this week”
  • “Open inspections assigned to Paul”
  • “Customer complaints since Monday”

On listing screens, it cuts straight through long lists of records so you can find exact entries in seconds. On map screens, it clears away visual clutter, turning hundreds of regional pins into a focused operational view.

This is an opt-in, screen-by-screen setting, so your standard dropdown filters stay available whenever you want them.

Action Button: Jump to Field

Action Buttons have always let you move between screens using “Jump to Page“, but jumping to the top of a page is not always precise enough.

We have added a new interaction called Jump to Field. It lets you point an Action Button directly at a specific field anywhere on your form, even if that field is several pages away. When someone taps the button, the form opens the right page and scrolls straight down to that exact field.

This helps on non-linear jobs like building inspections. An inspector might check a room, spot a defect, and need to record it in a specific log table sitting on a summary page at the end of the form. Normally, they have to flip forward through multiple pages, scroll past irrelevant tables to find the right one, enter the details, and tap all the way back.

With Jump to Field, you can drop an Action Button right next to the question that takes them straight to the exact table they need. Add another button next to the table to bounce them right back to where they were, and you cut out all the tedious paging and searching.

AI Action in Sync

Sync has a new action: AI Action. You can drop an AI Action into any flow, write your instructions in plain English, and Sync handles the rest.

AI Actions can:

  • Extract structured data from documents, images, or webhook payloads.
  • Summarize long form submissions before routing them forward.
  • Categorize incoming records automatically without manual triage.
  • Translate text between languages before sending it to downstream systems.

For example, when a lengthy customer feedback form comes in, an AI Action can summarize the main points, categorize the issue, and route the formatted summary straight into your CRM or helpdesk.

Populate Dataset Action

We have added a new Sync action called Populate Dataset, which lets you push structured records straight into a Distill Dataset during any flow. You can map your variables, schedule when the writes happen, and immediately make those records available to your dashboards and AI Ask.

Seven Additional Sync Connectors

We are expanding the Sync library with seven additional connectors, making it easier to move data in and out of the tools you use every day.

  • NetSuite (Push/Pull): Sync standard and custom NetSuite records, like orders, items, and customers, in both directions.
  • Power BI (Push): Send datasets directly into Power BI workspaces for live reporting.
  • Salesforce (Upload + Pull): Upload attachments and pull record details straight from Salesforce.
  • Snowflake (Push/Pull): Move data to and from Snowflake analytical warehouses.
  • Twilio (Send): Trigger transactional SMS alerts directly from Sync events.
  • Dropbox (Push/Pull): Keep files synced bidirectionally with Dropbox.
  • OneDrive Personal (Upload/Download): Handle file transfers with consumer OneDrive accounts.

AI Ask Widget

When we first launched the Ask widget, people used it mainly to search help docs and artifacts, but the immediate feedback was clear: they wanted to ask questions about their actual operational data. With this release, you can drop the Ask widget onto any dashboard and ask questions about your data in plain language.

You can type questions like:

  • “What was our average response time by region in Q2?”
  • “How many safety walkthroughs at our European sites triggered a corrective action?”

The widget translates your prompt and displays the answer directly inside the widget.

Distill Global Filters & Shareable URLs

Dashboard designers can now set up Global Filters for controls like date ranges or numbers. Instead of tweaking widgets one by one, picking a filter in the side panel updates the entire dashboard at once.

Your filter selections also save straight into the page URL. That means you can copy the link, send it to a team lead or regional manager, and when they open it, they see the exact same filtered view.

Smaller Cycle Improvements

Beyond the headline features, this cycle brings several supporting updates across the platform:

  • Dark Mode: You can now switch the web portal over to Dark Mode whenever you want a break from the bright white background. Look for the new toggle on the left-hand menu right next to the translations option.
  • SendGrid EU Regional Routing: European organizations can now route all SendGrid email communications through EU infrastructure to help satisfy regional data residency requirements.
  • Sync & Connector Enhancements: Faster execution speeds and clearer diagnostic logs across background flows and connector steps.

We are keen to see how you put these new tools to work across your day-to-day operations. Your feedback directly shapes what we build next, so if you have any questions, run into quirks, or want to share ideas for future releases, give us a shout at customer@appenate.com.

Stay tuned for what is around the corner, and happy building!
